Israel was created by shear shrewdness and utter disregard for the rights of a people, the Palestinians. Zionism found unimagined success in their efforts to create a Jewish state in Palestine. Thanks to a strong PR effort combined with well-organized military plan and international support, today Israel is a powerful country and the Palestinians an endangered people.
However, it is only a matter of time until the Arabs, with the support of Turkey and Iran one day, will be able to reverse what has happened since 1947, when the UN partitioned Palestine. When this happens, the Arabs will simply force all Jews out of Palestine, just like they once pushed Arabs out.
Only one thing can stop this from happening, and that is if the Israelis wizen up today and seek to embrace and befriend their neighbors and to do so without cynicism or ill intent. This is the right time to do this. It is time to stop thinking of taking, but of letting go. I am sure the rewards will be great for the Jews and for the Palestinians. A chance to create something new out of the mess that exists today.
Still, I am quite certain Israel will not choose this path; indeed, elections this week confirmed this as the extreme right-wing of Israeli politics took the majority of seats in the parliament. The future is towards continued intransigence and hatred. The end for that is only one: history will just repeat itself, this time with the Arabs as the victors. Its just a matter of time.
Wake up – Are u on H? Peace will happen only when we Arabs, will accept a Jewish State in the Region. As long as we continue with our stupid mentality, there will be no Peace, but only “Divine Victories” such the one in 2006 and now in Gaza. Israel is a reality, and whoever still believes that it will disappear is living in dreamland….. yalla, move on ya khayyeh
I don’t agree that Arabs are the obstacle to peace. Israel is. Read the history and your will see that Israel was always the one to avoid making peace. Of course, they always made sure to make it look like peace was their only goal. In fact, their peace with Egypt was literarily forced down their throats by the US. Read Carter’s telling of events, and how Begin went on to regret he ever signed the treaty.
Who is the aggressor today? What parts of Israel are under occupation? Which Arab army is threatening to invade Israel? As for Hezbollah, they pose little threat outside Lebanon’s territory.
Peace, real peace, can only be had when Israel realizes that it needs to become friends with its Arab neighbors. It has the military upper hand.

i think none of us is the real problem. they cant reach to an proper agreement that will be good for the both of our Countries.

Look buddy. I have debated enough with you guys. Its always the same. You pretend to understand and then just give the excuse that Israel is defending itself. We too are defending ourselves. The difference is that you STOLE the land and we are on OUR OWN land. Its a BIG difference and its the ONLY difference. When you figure it out, the problems will be solved. Instead of reading my blog, go read some Israeli history (Ilan Pappe, Avi Shlaim, Benny Morris) and find out about the crimes that the State of Israel was created on.
